Decorate your house with fruit

Christmas crafts with fruit.

Christmas is a great time to for a midnight feast with the kids and to spend a little time bonding with your family, it’s also a great time to have a craft or two up your sleeve for the young ones in your family. Why not spend some time making Christmas decorations from fruit. Once dried, citrus fruits make great decorations for trees and can be incorporated into wreaths for your doors.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE DRIED FRUIT DECORATIONS

Lemons, Oranges, Apples, Pears, Cinnamon Sticks, Cloves, Star Anise and Bay Leaves (for scent)

Strong Sugar solution

Sharp Knife

Chopping Board

Oven (Low Heat)

Baking tray with Wax Paper

  1. Chop up your fruit into thin slices and brush each slice with a strong sugar solution

2.Place the slices on wax paper and bake in the oven on a very low heat for 2 hours. Turn them over and bake for another 2 hours until they completely dry out, and look like they do below.

3.Add dried spices like cloves and cinnamon sticks to add a Christmas note to your home.

Why not try using other fruits like lemons, pears and apple slices.
